Mark Archer’s New E.P “Songs for Einna” on DS93

Posted in Music, tunes on November 27, 2007 by theacidhouse

Many of you will remember Mark Archer as the nut case jumping around in a boiler suite wearing a dust mask with the large letter “A” on the front of it, as part of the masked hysteria rave duo Altern 8. Mark has always been a busy producer of some of the finest dance anthems and underground tunes from the late 80’s through the 90’s and into the 2000’s. From the chart topping Altern 8 releases to the massive club anthem “Slo Moshun – Bells of New York”. Marks latest release “Songs for Einna” on Black Dogs newest underground label DS93 takes a step forward into the futuristic sounds of tech-house with a nod of respect to the old skool detriot techno sounds of a few decades ago. An e.p with four aural delights that treat your ear canal to the sound of beautifully crafted techno and house. For me Heifer Nation and Dream Plant are the stand outs on the ep, go to Marks Myspace page and check them out. This e.p is strictly limited to only 93 copies, so if you want a copy don’t wait around as they are moving fast, you can order this through dust records or through Mark Archer’s Myspace page.

On Friday night I was invited to the launch of a new internet radio station called future-music.co.uk to hear the sounds of Shaun C & Mark ‘ fat finger’ Williamson ripping it up with a tech-house set. Future-Music.co.uk is focussed on upfront tech-house, electro, minimal, deep and progressive house sounds and is already building a solid DJ line up, which includes Old Skool Legends Altern 8’s Mark Archer (Mr Nex) playing upfront tunes. Friday nights session went off big time, the original 3 hr set turned into an 8hr mixathon by Shaun & Mark and pulled a huge number listeners for a launch night. There was shout box frenzy taking place on the website all through the night, with a great freindly interactive vibe. The station is still in its infancy and will be building a radio schedule over the coming weeks, the forum is now up and running and the membership is growing fast. The station is run by leeds based DJ Jay who has been into the electronic dance music scene since the 80’s who brings to the station a wealth of knowledge and a passion for music. So get your arses over to future-music.co.uk to find out more about it and to listen to the very best in upfront electronic dance music.

To give you a flavour of some new tunes, the following is a class techno mix submitted by Jay Gregor a Future-Music.co.uk Member…..enjoy

Bad Bwoooy, Come wid it ..raggamuffin bizness and ting…..LOL wtf?

Posted in Music, tunes on November 3, 2007 by theacidhouse

In my older years my music taste has softened slightly and I listen to less 92-93 hardcore and replaced it with more 125bpm acidic house rhythms. But that makes it even more of a pleasure when you put on a hardcore breakbeat tune that you have not listened to on ages and let the beats take you bake to a sweaty club, field, squat, hot boxed car. But what about this ressurgence of breakbeat that has been prominent for the last three years in the underground club land. Personally I don’t think these new breakbeat tunes that are coming out at the moment have a touch on the old skool, ok many are very well produced and DJ friendly. But they are so predictable, the break beat is the same on every bloody tune, and they just keep remixing old tunes to death, where is the originality, where has the gritty creativity gone. Don’t get me wrong, I like new break beat tunes in moderation, but a whole night of the same repetative beat is enough to send me to sleep and loose interest. Below are some ‘bad bwooy’ (he says tounge in cheek) break beats from back in the day of 1992, with some  personal memories attached to them, and one is an anthem you should all have heard before.

Funky Junky – Two Plus One (Raggamuffin Bizness) white Label 1992.mp3

Jonny L – Hurt You So (Full Mix) 1992 mp3

Structual Damage – Really Livin’ 1992 mp3

Eat Life – Bach to Basics 1992 mp3

Good 2 Bad and the Hugly – You know how to love me 1992 mp3

Enjoy the tunage :)
